Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Shawn Pobiner
I grew up in Commack, NY, and graduated from Commack High School in 1991. I then attended Penn State University and graduated in 1995. In 2000, I became a graduate at the University of Pittsburgh Dental School and went on to complete my Post Graduate Endo training in 2003 at Stony Brook University. I’ve been in private practice ever since, here in Island Endodontics, Wantagh, NY, and work alongside my brother, Dr. Todd Pobiner.
I am a member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), NYS Dental Association, Nassau County Dental Society, and Suffolk County Dental Society.
I believe that gentle dentistry is a vital part of being a good Endodontist. My patients don’t come to me because they feel good, but rather the opposite. It’s my job to fix the problem while keeping them in the least amount of discomfort possible and making them feel at ease. My patients’ comfort and well-being are my #1 priority, so I invite you to visit our office and see the care we offer firsthand.
When I'm not working, I enjoy fishing, the outdoors, and traveling.
Dr. Todd Pobiner
I grew up in Commack, New York, where I graduated in 1996 from Commack High School. I then moved to Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Florida for the next eight years to complete my undergraduate college and dental school education. I am grateful for the opportunity this gave me to see other parts of the country. In 2005, I completed an advanced hospital residency at Nassau University Medical Center, after which I went on to Stony Brook University to receive my Advanced Education in Endodontics degree.
Being a fourth-generation dentist, I was very excited to join my brother Shawn in practice in 2007. To some people outside the profession, dentistry may seem dull, but anyone who works in the field will quickly tell you otherwise. Every day presents a new and different challenge. Encountering various personalities, individualized personal circumstances, and a multitude of different aspects helps you determine what is best for the patient and makes every day unique and exciting. I thrive on that excitement and consistent development as an endodontist.
I make it a priority to keep abreast of all the latest technology in Endodontics. With that knowledge, I have committed myself to lifelong learning and advanced training. I continue to attend seminars and educational meetings all over the country. Being a member of the American Association of Endodontics, New York State Dental Association, and Nassau County Dental Society has provided me with great opportunities for advanced education all of which benefit our patients in the long run.
When I am not at the office, I do enjoy a personal life. Living in Manhattan has broadened my cultural horizons. I am both an avid runner and cyclist, but my real passion is the practice of Bikram Yoga. I have been a devoted yogi since 2010, practicing at studios all across the country. Anyone who has experienced it firsthand will tell you it’s a great way to reduce stress and stay healthy while improving the overall quality of your life.
Dr. Aliza Kaye
Dr. Kaye was born in New York and raised in Long Island. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Queens College in 2013, and was elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. During her time at Queens College, Dr. Kaye undertook a dental mission to Guatemala to help service underprivileged children in need of medical and dental care.
Dr. Kaye earned her dental degree at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in 2018. Throughout her time at Stony Brook, she received numerous honors and distinctions. Her research project, The effect of hydrogen-peroxide on bond strengths of universal-adhesive to eroded-enamel was awarded the New York Academy of Dentistry’s Summer Research Grant in 2015. She also excelled in endodontics, implant dentistry, and oral pathology, receiving awards upon graduation in 2018 in all three fields, most notably The American Association of Endodontists Student Achievement Award. Dr. Kaye also graduated with a Distinction in Research.
After dental school, Dr. Kaye began her post-doctoral training at NYU Winthrop Hospital General Practice Residency program. She then worked one year as a general dentist before returning to Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine for an Advanced Education Program in Endodontics.
In her free time, Dr. Kaye enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, baking, and swimming.

Dr. Kaye is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, New York State Association of Endodontists and Suffolk County Dental Society.
